A Camping Breakfast

10/20/2012

When you go camping, one of the joys is cooking over the fire.  This meal
is not about that.

You also bring food that you often don’t eat at home, stuff you can
munch or carry on hiking trips.  We’ve come up with a new breakfast
combination that doesn’t require the gas stove or Dutch oven.

This is something you can put together if you’re the first person up
and you don’t want to wake the others.  You can sit quietly, breathe
deeply, listen to the trickle of the stream nearby.

Bring a 32 ounce container of vanilla yogurt on your next camping
trip, some granola or Cracklin’ Oat Bran, and bananas.  After sleeping
on the ground and waking up stiff, unzip the tent, stake your territory,
then head over to the cooler. Pull out the yogurt,
banana, bowl and cereal.

Chop the banana in with the yogurt and mix in the cereal so you get that
daily
dose of bran. It’s an amazing mixture, giving you a great start to the
day.

Start the campfire.
Smell the smoke.  Lick the
bowl.  Your day is complete and it
just started. Everything else is gravy.
