Why, for example, not put some jalapeno peppers in it for some spicy mac and cheese? Broccoli would be another interesting addition, as cheese broccoli soup is a staple in many
restaurants.
So when my father-in-law suggested bacon, jumped on it. First I wanted to find out what motivated him to make the suggestion. His reply, “I was just thinking about what would be different and go well in macaroni and cheese.” Simple answer. Think about something you like, throw it in, and see what you come up with.
Boil 32 ounces of elbow macaroni, grill the bacon, chop it up, mix that all together.
Then take about 32 ounces of grated cheddar cheese (or your personal favorite) and stir it all together. You can put it in the oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese more full, or serve it right away.
Add a crisp salad or a veggie. It will make your father-in-law happy.
