it for us. It’s one of the simple things in life, and good for you. As the old saying goes, it helps you get rid of a cold. That’s probably because of the love that went into making it.
To start, you obviously need some chicken. I use either pre-packaged chicken breasts that are coated and you can cook easily in the oven, or buy fresh chicken breasts and marinate them in Italian salad dressing. Pound them lightly, poke them with a fork, pour the dressing over them, let sit for a half hour or so. Longer makes them taste better. Simmer them in light
oil until cooked.
Get 6-8 chicken bouillon cubes and put them in a large pot with the right amount of water. Now add what you like. That can be diced carrots, celery, peas, a chopped onion some garlic,
whatever.
Go to your spice rack and sniff around. Decide on something you like. It could be Dill Weed,
Fennel or a Bay Leaf. It could be some exotic spice from the Amazon Rain Forest. Put it in, taste it, see if you like it. The nose will let you know, so give it a good whiff before putting any
in.
After cooking the chicken, chop it up into smaller pieces, the way you like.
Put it in the pot with all the other ingredients. Lightly simmer for about 10
minutes.
On the side, cook up some rice or spaghetti noodles (break the noodles in half if you go this route). When done, put this in with the soup. You’re now ready.
Bake some rolls. When they come out hot, melt some butter on them. You’re ready for a full meal, and to get rid of the sniffles. You’ll also recreate fond memories of home. What more can you ask for on a cold, rainy day
