When Donald Trump was attacking President Obama about his birth certificate, the implication was that he originated from someplace else. Trump was probably assuming Obama was from another planet. By extension, most of us on earth would have assumed that was Mars because every time the aliens invade, we assume that’s the planet.
Maybe this all originated from Orson Welles “War on the Worlds” radio broadcast in 1938. He fabricated that terrorist threat and since then, our enemies have been Martians.
They could just as easily been creatures and armies from Venus Pluto or Saturn. In our limited views of the planetary system though, we seldom place blame there.
Instead, like the Russians and the Chinese, it’s the Martians that are dangerous and will infiltrate the earthlings. We know nothing about them, yet we believe they will be the ones to tear us apart. They may have no reason to do so. They may even like us. We don’t know. We make the Martians enemies so we have a planet to hate. Those f….cking bastards.
Do you ever wonder why Mars is the planet choice for convenient aliens? There’s no logic to it. Instead, it’s indoctrinated itself into another U.S. cultural norm and we just accept it. “Those Martians most hate us. They’re dangerous. They’re poised to tear our country apart.”
It’s not necessarily so. Yet we still believe it because that’s the planet we keep hearing is dangerous.
The news media weigh in. As does social media and the entertainment industry. We must implicate the creatures crawling out of the red soil.
“Attack From Mars.” “Martian Invasion.” “Mars Attacks!”
What is this species? Why do they hate us so? Why would they want to destroy Earth?
What about the other seven planets? What’s happened to them over the years? Why don’t they want to take over Earth?
We will probably never have the answer to most of these questions. We don’t ask them. We don’t care. We love to create enemies, point fingers, assess blame, and demonize another planet: “They want to take our resources and destroy our way of life.” But why?
That really is the central question as we look outside ourselves and determine what the real threats to our humanity are. “Why is it that a specific planet would want to take over Earth?”
There must be a central reason for this. And, for us Earth creatures, we must make this central to the equation of our future. If we don’t, we probably battle ourselves here and destroy the beauty of what god gave us.
Beyond Earth and Mars, there are seven other planets in our solar system. In this politically correct age, someone should stand up for Mercury, Venus and Pluto. Mars shouldn’t keep getting all the attention.
We must start standing up for other planets. Mars is not the problem. Danger lurks from any planet.
Who knows what species survives on Mercury and contemplates taking us over? They could have political motives or just be a bunch of bullies who want to push us around.
We’re never going to know. What we should remember is that it’s far easier to point fingers, assess blame and think there’s one bad guy waiting to take us over. But it’s never that simple.
Watch out for the planets. Mars may want to take us over. Or not. It could be Mercury, Pluto, Saturn or Uranus.
